I've been struggling with forcefields in my own maps as well, and in order to make the learning curve for players of both your and my map easier, I've decided to give forcefields with the same characteristics as yours the same properties. I probably won't be using other coloured emittors, but still...

I have two questions about that:

  1. Are you okay with that? If you aren't, I'll find another way to distinguish them.

  2. If I've looked at your pics properly, I guess that the yellow forcefields block matter but not portals, and the red forcefields block portals but not matter. Am I right? I have to download your map's beta sometime...

  1. That's fine with me. Almost every idea will have been already used by someone else in the past, and will be used by someone esle in the future, (I borrowed the idea from the flash Portal game).

  2. With my forcefields, the blue ones block all solid matter, (i.e. cubes, the player, cameras, etc), but will let portals and energy balls through. The yellow ones will allow everything through, except the player. The red ones allow anything through but they kill the player on contact.

More pics time. Mostly WIP of a train ride through a more operational BTS area.

That last pic is mainly just to show the StaticPropPolys shadows in the map.

Just after my last post I decided to buy The Ship, and have been addicted to that for the past week, so I haven't done any work on this map  However, today I've made a map showing some of the concepts I'm thinking of putting into this project. There are no puzzles or anything too challenging in this map. It's just to try out these concepts.

CAKE!
however... one thing i really disliked. is on the time dilation section that it goes "sv_cheats = 1" cuz i ain't no cheat! but also you'd never be able to do "trials/challenges" for any map that used this feature... cuz it would always say "cheated" at the end

edit: had never heard of "the ship" but that looks pretty sweet

Please Excuse the Bump, but I have a question:

All of files are either non existent (as TWP told me) or expired (YouSendIt) I really wanted to try this map too...
