It's been a while now since I mapped for Portal. I've only had time to polish my prefab collection now and then, but now I'm finally into mapping again!

This is my second Portal map. I started on it almost a year ago and I believe I can finsih it soon. Here's screenshots. Feedback would be nice.

Looks interesting, although I hope the second to last shot with all the panels in it doesn't make the map as complicated as it looks it might. Certainly looks interesting though, will certainly be interested in having a crack at it.

That was a fun game . It would be fun to implement something like that in an upcoming map. But for this puzzel, I got my inspiration from Metroid Prime. It has many interesting puzzels you can take ideas from.

A similiar puzzle was in Metroid Prime 1 as well, in a big chamber you encounter early on in Phazon Mines. What is it with Space Pirates and Morph Ball Plumber puzzles? They don't even have morph balls themselves!

But indeed, you're right. Though most of Metroid's puzzles aren't very hard, they are often fun to do because of Samus' many abilities and the way they all need to be used in order to complete a puzzle. Scan a panel here, boost in a spinner there, detonate a few morph ball bombs, blow away the blast shield, and voila, you get [Suit Expansion Name Here].

I remember this puzzle from Metroid Prime 2. In Sanctuary Fortress, near the Dynamo Room, you have to complete a puzzle with nine squares that come in three colours and may rotate around certain axises on a flat surface. One must align the three squares of one colours horizontally. Quite easy, but it requires that small extra step in thinking, much like Portal's puzzles.

Here are some more ImageShack screenshots for you

My biggest concern here is the lighting. It has been challenging to accomplish good lighting and at the same time use realistic light sources. What do you think of it?

If everything goes well, I might be able to release it next week. All I have to do now is some fine tuning and adding a bonus map script.

So why bother with posting these screen shots if you could have just waited a week and released the actual map? You could have made the BNS file in the time it took you to take all these screen shots.
