Hi, what I need to do to use custom sounds and music in my maps? How high Hz, WAV or MP3, where to put and do I need to edit soundscripts?

Thank you

For my custom GLaDOS voices i do nothing but get a WAV file, throw it in sound folder and put the path in an ambient_generic. That's all i do, And it seems to work for me

EDIT:
No i don't put the path like i just said, i put the type in the ambient_generic to "raw" and search for a part of my soundfile.

You need to put custom sounds in a subdirectory called "sound" (not "sounds"!!) in your Portal directory. (along with "maps", "materials" etc.)
You may need to restart Hammer before it will show up in the sound browser.

Strange now it works when I changed it to 16 bit sound. But thanks for tutorial  The chamber is now 95% ready!

I had that before. Made me give up many maps cause i didn't know how to fix it, i think i asked here before, and i was answered but i couldn't get it working or something. I don't really remember, all i know is, i was too lazy to fix all the sounds if i could get it working :/

You can just press refresh sounds while in hammer after putting in new files. That works fine for me.

I think 22,050 Hz @ 16 bit or 44,100 Hz at 16 @ bit should both work fine as well

That's correct.
The sound is coming from one point in the map, so making it stereo is pointless.
