Hi everyone!

Here is my first ever Portal Map release!

I first started playing Portal when I was 9 years old and thought it was great. When I turned 10 I started learning how to use Hammer to map, mostly by watching YouTube videos. I've just turned 11 years old, and am now releasing my first map.

I'm sure there's much better maps, but I think there are some good puzzles in my little map that you will enjoy.

Don't worry, I got my dad's permission.

The file is a standard 7z file. Once you unzip it, put it in your Maps folder.

http://webpages.charter.net/cwilliams5110/clostaphobic.7z

I tried to upload it here, but it was 2.3 MB, just a little too large. (Please help if you're an admin.)

Please let me know what you think! And be nice! Oh and let me know if you find a bug or something. Thanks!

A rather short but pretty good map. Just some thoughts of mine:
I seemed to know how to put the cube on the elevated button but after several thousand tries, I gave it up and had to noclip (well, I really suck at flings and flinging with the cube in my hands is really impossible for me).
In the last room with the turrets and energy ball, I didn't need the cube at first (I got the energy ball into the catcher by bouncing it off a dead turret). Then I realised the cube is there so I got it, put a turret onto it and climbed up the stack to the exit
I can hardly think this was the intended solution, but, well, it worked
Overall, nice work, keep it up. I have uploaded your map to my portal maps web folder, let me know if you update it.

Lol

(SPOILER) The actual solution is to use the cube to put the energy ball in the catcher, and then fling across to the ledge using the pit at the entrance. (SPOILER)

Thanks!

There are 2 problems I found with this map.
Firstly, in the last chamber, It is very difficult to shoot a portal onto the concrete bit on the roof. It requires pixel perfect shooting, which is quite difficult to do.
The second problem (which was probably just me) is the X on the ground in the cube fling onto the elevated button. The actual placement of the portal (IMO) is slightly further away from the platform than the X actually is.
Other than that, it was pretty good.

Yeah, that wasn't the only place. For the author of the map, I recommend studying the func_portal_bumper entity.

Actually, yes I did put func_portal_Bumbers around the frame of the slab, but it still dosen't work.. And the same thing in other cases...

I may be missing something??? I dunno.

You can post this map on myaperturelabs.com as well, they seem to post larger ones. I thought this was an excellent map and a good puzzle.
Well done.

The map downloads and uploads part of this site isn't working at the moment, which is why there is a maximum of 2mb.

Thanks for the comments!

P.S. Why are there no more contests?

(I'm to lazy to search and figure it out.)

We're going to be having one in a few weeks, when the TF2Maps.net contest ends.

Byt the way, you should upload this map to the Download DB.
