Over the next week or so, I am going to be working on completely porting the aged and no longer used ThinkingWithPortals Wiki over to the Valve Developer Community wiki. I think this is a better move for everyone as the VDC is both more widely used, as well as reaches a broader audience. I also am planning on using the VDC for Portal 2's wiki instead of TWP, again to reach a broader audience both for Portal 2 mapping as well as ThinkingWithPortals.

Anyone and everyone who wants to contribute, you are welcome to do so! I have moved over several of the major articles, as well as update many of the existing ones on the VDC to point to previous TWP examples. I will be keeping the Wiki online for a week or two before decommissioning it entirely.

When Portal 2 comes out (or rather, the Portal 2 SDK), I will be organizing another Community Project to write articles and/or port any relevant Portal 1 wiki content to Portal 2. Expect to hear more on that as we get closer to Portal 2's release.

I just felt an odd twinge of slightly sad nostalgia.

The best articles we had - Logic Portals, the Portal Mapping FAQ, and such - were the only things that actually made us unique. Lots of it was already duplicates of the VDC. In the end it makes sense to use the VDC since it gives everyone much larger exposure.

When Portal 2 comes around, I want to make sure we have a committee of people who can be dedicated to helping make the Portal 2 Mapping page and related articles/tutorials the best they can be. I am sure there will be lots of new features, and they'll need tutorials and example maps.
