A couple of basic questions about Portal Sounds

I noticed that the GlaDOS's voice and few other sounds (ie turrets voices) are not directly available for making Portal Maps (AFAIK). Anyone know why some Portal sounds are not directly available (Missing\hidden)?

Also, the Dinosaur sounds, what purpose do they serve? My swag is that they are encrypted sound files, at least that is what they sound like to me.

Thanks

All right, the sound files are in the Portal English.gcf and can be accessed with GCFscape (google is your friend)

If you mean within hammer, just search portal, aperture AI, or turrets depending on what mode your searching in (raw, game sounds, the other one I can't remember the name) and what your trying to find.

The Dinosaur sounds are in fact encrypted files and led to a scavenger hunt of sorts that was solved within 2 days of the update which added them. http://portalwiki.net/ for more info.

Thanks for the tips; I was able locate the sounds using GCFScape. Previously, I thought all Portal sounds would be in "portal content.gcf" and over looked "portal english.gcf"

They aren't encrypted. They're morse code and SSTV images. Big difference.
