This is how we did it:
1. Both need the bsp file in the maps folder.
2. Go to coop hub.
3. Host (the one who invited the other) opens the dev console.
4. Type changelevel <map_name>

If this doesn't work, your level might be incorrect. Check out some of the original coop levels to see how to create the coop spawns.

Make sure it's enabled in your options. You also might want to try launching Portal 2 separately, IE don't let it run from Hammer at the end of the compile process.

It is enabled in the options menu and im not running it after hammer its actually not my map its a map ive downloaded and it works fully in splitscreen. The console is there when i start the game and works fine but as soon as i press the co-op button it disapears!

Ive triede to bind both the o and the ? key to opening console but it just wont work both by doing it in the options menu and by "bind [Key] toggleconsole"

You shouldn't have to manually bind a key, by default it is the tilde ~ key.

EDIT: This has been solved something about some buttons on my keyboard isnt optimal for doing it, here is the right way
- Add the parameter -console to Launch Settings of Portal 2
- Launch Portal 2 (developer console should be already there)
- Write and execute in console: bind f11 toggleconsole
- Test that pressing F11 toggle the console
- Now exit Portal 2 and relaunch it. Everything should work as expected.
If F11 doesnt work for you just play around with it and see what works

Or you could just not use a European keyboard.

Haha sure that too, its just that id rather use another button then go spend a 100 bucks on a new keyboard.
Thanks for your time anyway...
