Having Some Problems with Mapping for Portal 2

Alright, first post, here goes.

Anyways, I've been using Hammer for a while, and I'm working on a Portal 2 map of my own. Unfortunately I've encountered two a problems that I don't know how to fix, as well as another one relating to Co-op.

The SP problem I'm having is getting the hazard liquid to render. It just gives me a "Hall-Of-Mirrors" effect. I tried putting in a cubemap as well as lights and using different textures to no avail. I'm aware of how to properly render water in Source, but the hazard liquid just won't show up.

My co-op problem is a bit of a more serious one that I can't circumvent - I have no idea how to make a map playable in co-op. I have one map from Portal 1 that I was trying to convert for co-op. I removed the player spawn and put in two co-op spawns, but when using a command to load the map, it never loads. I don't know what the problem is, though my hunch is that it's related to the Team setting of the spawns.

I feel a bit bad asking for this much help on my first post, but if someone could help me with this problems, I'd really appreciate it.

EDIT: I need to do my research next time before posting this, I now know why the gel isn't working. Oops.

Yes, well, regardless of my own idiocy (which I do indeed regret now =P) I'm still having trouble getting hazard liquid to render.

I've been browsing and despite everything I still can't find the source of the problem. I've tried compiling with HDR, using different textures, enabling and disabling different compile options, copying the brush out of official maps even, but it always gives me the same effect.

Oh, and yes, I have a water_lod_control in my map too.

Does your map have a leak? What material are you using for the water? Are you absolutely sure that you setup your water properly?

A) The map doesn't have any leaks in it.
B) nature/toxicslime_a2_laser_over_goo, though I've tried several others as well.
C) Yes, I'm sure I haven't done anything wrong.

Would having VVis set on Fast do anything? I've compiled maps for Left 4 Dead 2 on -fast (due to it taking a very long time without it) and had no problem with water, but I'm not sure what else could be at fault here.

No compiling in fast wouldn't affect anything. I think that material has a problem, everyone keeps using it and it never works.
