Use info_placement_helper. Put it exactly where you want a portal to be aligned. And if you want to orient the portal specifically just orient info_placement_helper in that way and set Use helper's angles to Yes.

Bump because PortalCombat sent me a PM and I fucking hate getting PMs asking me questions on how to setup things.

Make sure the angles of the info_placement_helper are parallel with the surface you are trying to force the placement on. If the wall is facing North, the helper needs to be facing North. If the face is tilted at a 45 degree angle along the Y axis, then the placement helper needs to be tilted at a 45 degree angle along the Y axis. Look at the axis gizmo, it will show you at a glance what direction it's facing at.

Bump because I have some problems with the info_placement_helper.

It worked perfectly on the floor. Now I want to orient the portal, so I set Use helper's angles to Yes, and it doesn't seem to work anymore. I can put portal anywhere in any direction. I also don't know, which axis represents the certain directions. I've tried out many cases but none of them helped.

What am I doing wrong?

I want to say the bigger red arrow needs to be pointing upward if my memory serves me right. Don't quote me on it if it doesn't change anything though.

You were right, thanks! Funny, I didn't try this, seems like I never thought of the big red arrow as a surface vector. Also, now I know, that the blue arrow points to the bottom of the portal.
