How to build cubemaps in portal 2? I have placed cubemaps near metal surfaces, and run buildcubemaps -command in-game. They build fine, but still, no reflections appears...

You may need to restart Portal 2. Also, does your map have lighting?

Are your game settings low enough that reflections are not enabled?

Post an in-game screenshot please.

I don't think alot of Portal 2 textures use cubemaps from what I've seen. Even without lighting in a map, many textures will still use some sort of default reflection. My current map looks exactly the same with and without cubemaps. It's only if I apply certain textures that it's noticeable.

Metal walls uses reflections. My settings are medium-low. If I try higher settings, my game crashes, when I run map.

Reflections are only enabled for textures (as far as I can tell) when the Shader settings are on high.

Maybe you settings are too low to render reflections. This is the exact same situation someone else had, so I'm guessing that's the case.

Surprise: You need a computer that is newer than 6 years old to see modern effects such as reflections.

By the way, the console command for enabling reflections is mat_specular 1. This should let you see reflections without having to adjust settings.

Well, that's what it was in portal 1. Dunno if it still works in P2
