All the other world portals show up fine, but I can't get this one to work!

Is it set to enabled?

Also, why did you take a screenshot of a fraps video, when you just could have hit F5 to take a normal screenshot? Or F12 to take one and upload it to the Steam cloud?

To answer your first question, yes it's enabled, and fully functional, just not visually. And the reason I took a shot of the video, is because I was going to upload the video as an attachment, but it was taking forever, and I didn't feel like going back in game, so I just Print-Scrn'd it.

How large is the height and width of world portal in it's settings?

Width is 256, height is 160, but it's not the size, because the world portal its linked to works visually, wait, could this be caused by no light entities through the portal? It seems to be the most logical reason.

[EDIT]

Nope that didn't solve it...

I had something similar happen with a smaller portal. It would go away when I got closer to the portal. Does the white go away as you approach?

That's different, it's just because of your graphics settings, this one wont go away ever.

Don't bump your thread after a god damned hour. I have warned you about this before. Do it again and I'm giving you a board warning.

Sorry, also I have a really bad memory when it comes to stuff like this, when did you warn me before?

Do you have other active world portals in the map? If so, does it work when you disable any of them? I think there is a limit to how many are rendered at any one time.

When I was fiddling around with them they were white for me because the world portal was larger than the wall it was connecting to.
Width is the width from the middle of the portal entity to one side of the wall, and same for the height.

Quick question: can you see any other world portal in that room other than that one? It will stop drawing portals if portals are drawn inside portals too many times. I would suggest turning off the other world portals until you can see them.

Here's the vmf, if anybody can figure out why this is happening, please tell me.

The portals have to be pointing away from the wall and you have them pointing towards them. Remember that the red line is which direction it is facing, the blue line indicates which way is up and the green line is to the left. Just rotate both the entities the other way and it will work. (I think). Unless this has something to do with the portals not being on the roof/wall.

EDIT: I fixed it: Just rotated the entities and it worked fine. I also made everything that should be a func_detail and optimised it. You'll find that your compile time is about 10x faster.

P.S. I'm not sure what you were trying to do with the puzzle, in order to make yourself appear you are walking on the walls you would need at least 4 rooms linked together with world portals.

It's threads like this why I say you barely have a functioning grasp of the engine, and laugh at the idea of you making a "mod" flying solo.

He can do what he likes. As far as I can see; continually developing challenging things is the best way to improve your skills.

No, you just put the world portals horizontal, this didn't help at all. I got the whole walking on walls thing to work though, without using 4 rooms.

Okay, that makes no sense at all msleeper, when he returned the vmf, he made improvements, and added nodraw textures where needed, but he put the world portals in places I didn't want them, and when I moved them back, the portals functioned fine. Trust me, I did nothing different, and it may have to do with the func_details, because that is the only major change of the entire map. Please don't insult my skills as a mapper, as I am just as skilled as most people on this site (excluding reepblue, and omnicoder). So please tell me what's wrong with my skills instead of just saying how bad I am, at least I provide proof that I can give out some content, unlike some people coughkizzycocoacough.

I don't see how turning things into func_details would fix the problem. That is only for optimisation purposes. The only other thing I changed was the 'width' value of the portals. Maybe this was the problem?

Anyway...I would like to see what you did though cause the idea is kinda awesome .

P.S. Also I love it how everyone is calling me 'he'. Makes me feel like some kind of Tom Boy.
