Hold on
You'll pay $140 ($420 if you count all 3? of them) for a plastic portalgun useless toy (not judging here, I did it too
), but not $79 for a cool motion controller that also gets you portal 2 content?
Seems legit.
I'd go for the deal, if I had enough money, and also a .edu email. None of my schools so far has been cool enough to have that.

yes. yes I would. because to be able to hold a portalgun is infinitely better than to have a controller that looks so clunky.

Clunky it ain't. Its optimatized.

The controller has an actual use at least, the portalgun(s) is just for show, you could have created a replica for ~10$, but not the controller...

optimised =/= good. if there were a tiny personalised keyboard for portal 2, with it's own jump button, it's own movement sticks etc, I'd not buy it.
tbh, I hate where controls are going. it's all touchscreen and moving balls around. whatever happened to the days where you got a N64 controller and were damn happy, despite it only being holdable by aliens? hell, they even say the mouse is going to die out soon. that's horrible!

Who said this? Crap, I don't want to use touchpad; I hate it. It's inaccurate, it's either too slow or too fast, and i can never use it properly.

Some large companies (HACK COUGH MICROSOFT COUGH) think that touch is going to replace the mouse
I'm all "yahno," you can't control any decent video games with touch.

Mice will never die, atleast, I won't let it die... I can't aim for shit on a controller and even worst on a touch pad

Right, brb. Going to off myself while the going's good. It's been fun.
Video games as an art are primarily about how we interact. While there's something to be said about minimalist interactions, its about time we moved on to greener pastures and have more control over what we do in interactive digital medias. Things like the controller in question (which I've heard just about nothing but good whispers about) basically solidify this future and make me excited for a time when I can afford to be a part of it.
I personally cannot stand touch controls. My fingers are too big and screens get too greasy and it's just a mess altogether. The leap solves all that by making it so you're not actually interacting with the physical display object, but instead the virtual display environment.
Motion controls I can see for some video games, but not as a primary input device.

Oh sorry, I hope it didn't come out like I meant Kinect-type controls when I said "motion controls".I actually meant to say ETHNIC CLEANSING.

anyway,
I don't think anything within the next ~10 years will beat the mouse when it comes to gaming. Sure there's cool technology but come on, it's way more comfy to use keyboard and mouse then to hold your arms out and fake mouse-clicks...

Who said this?
I am a very odd mix of older social norms with a modern computer user and VGer twist.
