Idk, maybe i'm just old-school with this.

I am a very odd mix of older social norms with a modern computer user and VGer twist.

^so much this.

I am so old fashioned in some ways, yet so modern in others.

"fogm so old fashioned"

Touch is not the future. Motion, maybe. Probably. Touch is still 2 dimensional, still essentially the same as the mouse except no one really knows how to do it right, and it's completely unoptimized for first person shooters. Motion is 3 dimensional, can but doesn't have to incorprate a separate controller, and supports a wide range of applications.

Interesting question, do you people consider Eye tracking to be motion controls? Thoughts on it in general?

ITT: screw the razer hydra, let's just talk about controllers

Touch is bad for game controllers and really any kind of interaction in general because you have to cover up what you're looking at. I see a propensity for eye control, but I can't think of any good implementations.

I could, for things that need precise work (but not TOO precise) and the person doing it in question has nerves, this would prevent a screw-up because they'd be staring at it in a more stable way than their hands were moving.

You couldn't use this for any really precise things, as our eyes are constantly moving to 'update' lighting. If they didn't move, the world would either go blurry-white or blurry-black, not sure which, because the eye ignores things that don't update. This is so blood vessels over the light-sensitive cells are not seen unless you do some steps to force shadows onto them.

Your eyes jerk around a lot when they focus; our brains cut it out. Eye tracking would presumably take into account all of these bobs and weaves, (I'm assuming) with loss of overall precision to compensate.

I think that FPSs will have a hard time going full interactive motion touch whatever mode, the best I can think is a Wii-Fit pad thing to run with a plastic gun controller (would make replicas usefull IRL?) and the 360 view from if you move your eyes left. right up or down. e.i. if you look near the middle of the screen the view wouls stay on the same angle but if you look to the far left/right/up/down it the view would also change. The hard part would be to make strafing easy and not de-balancing. I can't think of any way to make motion gaming accurate without building a 3m.x3m.x3m. ball with sensors and an external console that costs less than 13000$

TL;DR version: Motion controls =/= accurate controls

Oh so THAT's the rep system you want to implement, can't we just use it as a joke when someone says something smarter than usual?

I already have it.

Also keep in mind this is a family-oriented site (though most people on here are gr0wnt), try to watch what you say. I edited the title of the thread but I'm not doing four pages. Duck that.

People take offense to that. If you change the title back to it, I will be taking action.

Nothing serious, just like a 2 day ban or something.

Also, yes. I approve of the current title.
