Exite was done in Source 2006, there were multiple builds, and the mappers at that time were the worst mappers ever. I've looked at the old vmfs, what a nightmare. Oh, and I think in this screenshot, they used the same map as the one posted.

While the carefree attitude some users seem to be sporting about this serious leak certainly edges along the outskirts of the rules, there's nothing technically wrong in the thread. Locking it has been discussed a couple times but as long as there remains no actual postings of any actual code or links to the leak, compiled or otherwise, it still remains a legal thread.

The notion of that argument is quite simply wrong. I could make a piracy thread right now, and as long as is not used for the subject it's discussing, it'd be allowed. Discussing and doing something is two entirely different concepts.

Still, what I propose to others, referencing to the code, isn't illegal. If you download it, I am skeptical that it's illegal anyway. How much jail time could you get for downloading a zip file? The mere notion sounds absurd to me, and if it were true, would make everything related to Wikileaks illegal. That's plain perplexing. Thus, to me, downloading such a file is not illegal, but that's my personal opinion. Perhaps we need a Pastebin of the code to make it not illegal to reference, as it's hosted elsewhere.

Also, PortalPlayer, from sources I've heard, when you heard of the link, you went crazy-apeshit about it, wanting to have it yourself or, so my sources say. So, carefree attitudes seem to run amok. Especially through my own friend circles!
The source is not me, btw. I genuinely heard you wanted it from someone else. While I know personal and admin life must be separate, I'm merely throwing that out there.

On a note, Kat has been referencing to the portal code vigorously. I've never seen someone so dedicated to a project. She has given me what it is so far. I still can't enter a portal yet, as it seem to, like, detect the wall and portal at the same time? But, it's looking promising for physic objects at the least. She says she's trying to integrate it with HL2 as much as possible.

Child Pornography is different, as it is basically abuse of minors, for sick and twisted people downloading it. The pictures themselves are the offending material.

You could turn this on it's head and say that the code itself is also the offending material, but unlike that subject, the code has not been abused all it's life, and forced into sexual situations with TF2.
to reference to the code is like looking at a photo of a fully clothed nerd, who's closed himself off from everyone forever.
I am unsure what modifying/recreating the code would entail in this metaphor that wouldn't lead to Saw/Frankenstein-like connotations.

Also, I've no idea why you used an obscure translation like that at all. like with this leak, saying it is ok (well, in the eyes of the rules. socially, it's taboo, which can supress victims from speaking out).
unlike this, I'd not be as forthright as to make a topic for the subject. it's universally known as bad. any debate would lead to so much drama, especially if someone had opposing opinions/trolled.
