Portal Configuration Does Not Work

First of all, I can't even change config via the SDKlauncher. It is stuck on HL2 permanently, I can select other configs but it just resets back to HL2. Annoying.
I can change it in Hammer, but there are no Portal Entities or Textures, although the configuration is still set to Portal.
What is wrong, does anyone know a fix?

I would start by resetting game configurations (under Utilities). If that doesn't work, try editting it in manually using the setting below that.

Pardon my obvious questions, but
1) did you verify your game cache?
2) do you have portal installed and played at least once on your computer?

I have this problem quite often, I usually fix it by closing any other games that were open (I had TF2 open).

I'll try resetting the game configurations, but it's inconvinient since I will lose the configuration created for my HL2 mod and other games I design maps for. But I can always add it back, I guess
