I'm going to be throwing a couple of other references into the map as well (using lines such as the "We do all our science from scratch!"), but it would be nice to use a custom elevator video.

Looks like we got one entry so far and with 15 days to go! It's better to have at least one already submitted.

I will not play any maps until the deadline. Gonna do a complete run through on all the maps on that one day. Makes it easier to compare them.

Also question about the elevator videos. How do you make them work now? I have trouble getting them to work with and without scripts since the PTI update.

My SDK is broken still despite multiple reinstalls and restarts. Every few days I can get it to start with a configuration other than Half-Life 2, but my map might not be done by the time the contest is closed, I fear.

The one entry so far looks cool though.

So have I, but the new version of Brainstone's hardcode instances works. I've been modifying them for all my elevator needs.

Can't recall exactly but basically I hard-specified an elevator video rather than going through the instance parameter (which as I recall doesn't work)

The elevator instance actually hasn't changed however the script for the elevator videos has (overrides the original script in portal2/scripts by the dlc2/scripts). And it decides to use a random elevator video instead of the one you specify.

I would try to use Brainstone's instance (as he manually set the values needed in order to display the video properly) or you could try and use the one I made specifically for the TWP advertisements here as you can pack scripts into the .bsp using pakrat: http://forums.thinkingwithportals.com/c ... t6896.html
Instructions included of course.

For specific changing of what media to display on the screens, you need to change the actual video value inside the video_master entity. (Sorry but I cant recall the exact name of the entity or what it is called because I am currently not at my Home computer).
SaveAs the original instance and find what entity you need to change the 'Video' keyvalue for.

The entity you mean is vgui_movie_display. There's one on the elevator floor, that's the master, and then one slave on each panel.

Meaning, what error codes does it say, what does it do, what does it display, etc. You may need to manually config Portal.

It doesn't say any error message, when you click in the drop down menu and select Portal, it sticks with EP2. It only time to times have Portal selected when the SDK is launched.

It's sort of working more or less now. Occasionally it will slip up but it's configuring for Portal more regularly.

This may have been addressed before, but how will the prizes be distributed between team entries? I'm going to assume that there won't be a signed poster and $30 game for everyone.
