it's a parody of traditional sims game, with a deeper meaning hidden beneath it.
it's a parody, but not a total parody. there's a much deeper meaning to it, behind the facade of a pointless buying/burning game.

It's like if every 5 pages, Dr. Victor Frankenstein turns towards the camera (a book with a camera? whatever) and says "Remember kids, that's why we don't mess with nature!"

He does a few times, in the descriptions of his creation and when he's begging the captain (I forget his name...) to destroy it.
Plus it all goes to charity.
Plus they changed the way their keys are handled, so you can't go giving out spares to friends. This marks the downfall of the Humble Bundle.
