VMF-->model - how, and how to remove imperfections?

I have a door I want to make a model using Propper. I that still recommended, or is there a better program out now?

Also, when I save/reload, despite it being fine grid-wise, several of my brushes misalign themselves. Mostly, the tiny, tiny details, by just enough to notice strips of nodraw. Can that be fixed?

Check your Collision model origin with the actual brush origin. Make sure it's the same. The gaps are there because of how Propper reads and compiles the vmf. Vbsp fixes this while Propper does not.

After using propper for pretty much everything for a year, I recommend trying Blender or something. Your model may be too complex for Propper.

I tried blender. it is far, far too complex. X_X

It seems Propper actually doesn't even work anymore. due to the damned steampipe update, no-one has got Propper to work since, or so my own research says.

What are you trying to do? I'll have a look at it, though I can't guarantee I'll be able to do it.

I was just going to post an update!

Ok, so, I have a model. I managed to export it to 3DS max via "Wall Worm"

Now, my issue is twofold.

1)I have no idea if it kept the textures. The texture of the doors (and now stairs!) are grey.
2)3DS max is a PAIN to use. I need to fine-tune the vertex points, as many were malaligned during the conversion process. This also means I need a way to resize the grid step-lock.

On Tuesday, I'm going to try to edit the models in 3DS max 2014. Seems so much easier. But, if anyone is able to help my issues beforehand, that'd be great!
