for example, if we were discussing walmart vs target, and i said "well, what about bestbuy? it's similar, because walmart sells a lot of electronics." your reply might as well have been "Yes, but the ps3 isnt walmart. electronics superstores arent walmart or target." see what i mean? your reply really makes no sense following the conversation.
Universe' canon
So don't do that. Please.
On-topic: There are easter eggs in HL2:ep2 as I recall involving LOST, but they were noted to be easter eggs specifically and so beyond that there's nothing explicitly showing any kind of crossover to my knowledge.

not to mention that richard alpert and jack's dad both make apperances in the show that strongly resemble g-man. but still just easter eggs nonetheless. after all, hl1 can be seen being played in one episode, so they obviously cant be connected.

i was only ever pointing out the fact they are similar.
I was saying not really to this.
Your point on them being similar was that Dharma killed a bunch of people for science. Aperture and Black Mesa kind of, you know, never do anything like that. At all.
a more close example, is when ben gassed dharma in the purge. ben is a sociopath raised by a dharma member, glados is a sociopath created by several aperture employees. they both gassed everyone in their respective locations. they both lie all the time. heck, ben pretty much has the exact same personality as glados.
dharma also does teliportation experiments at the orchid station.
the dharma swan hatch uses similar computers to aperture.
there are cameras throughout the dharma facilities.
There is no way to completely deny any similarity, just a way to deny certain aspects of it.
glados is an aperture product. and that's exactly what she did. not intended by aperture, true, but still a similar action.
GLaDOS was created by Aperture, but she isn't Aperture. She didn't kill people ~FER SCIENSE~, but rather because they got in her way and kept trying to limit her capabilities.

I guess any character that lies a lot and kills people is based on GLaDOS. Must be a lot of time machines for that to be possible.

Yeah and so does basically every company in any sci-fi anything ever.
the dharma swan hatch uses similar computers to aperture.
Because they're based on real computers?
there are cameras throughout the dharma facilities.
There are cameras throughout Best Buy, too. Security.

Except the only similarities are minor and/or completely coincidental and/or something that any sort of lab or facility would have.
The end.
