i cant seem to be able to update the map file on one of my maps i uploaded. was this disabled or something?

It has been disabled until the judges have finished judging the maps for the contest to prevent any further editing of the maps. I'm sure an admin can help with this.

does anyone ever read the front page news?

well I still dont understand why they dont just copy the contest maps (can be done in 30 sec with a php), then extract them to a dir named by the zip, then compress the whole, and testers download it all at once.
Or just disable uploading/editiong if the map's category is contest.
Disabling the site like this is weird.
