Is there a way to run Hammer without having to run the Source SDK every time, I know its only a couple extra clicks but I'm lazy and want a Hammer shortcut on my desktop

Also, Is there a way to get rid of the Valve logo intro thing when you run Portal, I'm sick of pressing escape every time I want to test my map

OK, so I'm just lazy.

Right click sdk -> Create desktop shortcut

Right click portal -> Properties -> Set Launch Options -> Paste: -novid

You have to launch it from the SDK I believe. If you try and launch it without it has problems. It needs to know which game you're working in and stuff.

You can pass the -runhammer parameter to the SDK and it will automatically run Hammer immediately.

Wouldn't you need a command or something so that it automaticly knows which game you plan on editing though? Or is it just the default game.

This page on the valve wiki agrees with what Korjagun said but all I get is an error saying 'The system cannot find the specified file'.

I've tried sticking -game portal on the end but same error.

I guess you could just try running hammer.exe directly. It should be in sourcesdk/bin/orangebox/bin.
