I'm trying to use the point_tesla entity to make a graphical effect for magnets that I plan to use in an upcoming map pack. The problem with using point_tesla, however, is the glow effect used wherever sparks come into contact with a surface. This makes it look bad and also very deadly. Is there any way those glowing impact points could be removed? Alternatively, what other effects might I be able to use for active magnets?

The only way to remove the impacts is to make a radius of the point_tesla that doesn't touch any surface.
You could use env_sparks for the magnet or env_citadel_energy_core.
You could also browse the aviable particle effects.

I used env_citadel_energy_core. I actually tried that entity a while ago but I think I forgot to set the "start on" spawn flag.
Now that I used a different series of models and a different graphical effect, I think that looks quite a bit better. Thanks for the help. You will be given credit in the map pack I will likely be using these magnets in.
