Moving HL2 textures/models to Portal 2's SDK

Hi there,

Currently I'm working on a mod that will use portal 2's version of the source engine. Sadly unlike most other source games, portal 2 seems to be lacking all of the base textures from HL2. I need the HL2 textures/models to complete my mod. So my question is, "In what folder are these textures/models located on my Hard-drive?" I'm having a hard time finding them.

thanks a bunch ahead of time

mostly its just the portals I really want to mess around with. They are really useful for creating impossible spaces/disorienting areas. I want to be able to use that. And yes I do have the normal SDK. Ive been making maps for a while. I just never bothered to learn how to add/remove textures to the SDK.

Extract the textures/models you want from the Half-Life 2 GCFs stored in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps. Drop them, maintaining the filestructure, in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\portal2. Be warned, though, you can't really distribute resources from other games with maps. VALVe may not care but it's still a little touchy.
