Heya there,

I am wondering how do I create the panels like the ones seen in the colab course, where both players get the gun, the panels that open.

I want to create those blue panels but have never figured out how.

NOTE: I am not looking for a way to animate the panels, I know how to do that, I simply just want a way to create the colourful blue panels that are see-through.

It is literally just a model; no attachments needed. Check the panels page on the VDC for the exact filename or filter 'glass' - if not, I'll have a look for you in a minute. Also worth noting is that there is a 128x256 variant of the glass panels, which is VERY useful.

Something worth noting regarding the glass panels: They don't block funnels or gels... Don't know if the normal panels are the same but in this case you will need to add a clip brush... and parent it to the arm model using SetParentAttachmentMaintainOffset.

What i'm trying to figure out is what type of brush to put on a panel so that you don't notice there's a brush, and it LOOKS like the top of the panel is being painted.

Could try invisible, then have the top of the panel textured differently.

Just checked my own map and i just used a invisible brush that is IN the panel... Like so:

However; i havn't been able to get it painted... because as far as i know the normal textures have an underlying code that allows them to be painted... maybe if you made a custom invisible texture with the same code... but i'm no expert on that...

Lostprophetpunk, you can find the thing used in the co-op course under instances/gameplay/door_4_panels. Used them already. But I found out they don't block paint.

But I am not looking for an instance. I am looking how you can make them on an individual basis.

Create a prop_dynmaic and set as world model telescope_arm_128_glass.
