I'm not sure if this classifies as a bug, but my pointfile keeps acting up. Sometimes I'll find a leak, use pointfile, fix the leak, and the pointfile doesn't go away even when my map compiles fine. It's annoying to find other leaks after that because the pointfile keeps wanting to point to a leak that doesn't exist anymore.

It doesn't go away automatically (at least it never did in OB hammer?), I always unload it after I fix the leak.

Both times that I've gotten the Authoring Tools, they've somehow corrupted my install. When I try to play the game after using them once or twice, the events get broken- like in the beginning, the computer won't cue when you wake up, thus rendering the game unplayable. What's worse is that uninstalling the tools with Steam causes it to delete a .dll needed to run the game. This is the second time that I've had to re-install Portal 2.

I'm not going to get the tools again; I'd just thought I'd lodge a complaint somewhere.

I am having a very odd particle system problem.

Y'see, I want to add dust along with a shake to my broken asrsenal of mapping prefabs/instances. The problem is, no dust particle works. Period. Not triggered, not starting on THEN triggered, not starting on period, not even when I give it control points. It just does. not. work. However, not all particle systems fail - any particle system who's name was in Portal will work, but any NEW names do not. I have not fixed this, even when I blatently copied from a VALVe map. Does anyone know the problem/how I might fix it?

Well, not exactly a bug, but func_dustmotes don't work, anyone know the texture name?

When I try to test my Portal 2 map through Hammer, it either takes forever to load or freezes. I just shut down Hammer and manually launch the game and test the map.

I had this also.

I think its because you might be running low on memory.

Running both Portal and Hammer uses alot.

I just upgraded my memory from 3GB -> 6GB, and things have gotten alot better for me, and alot of the freezes and loads are much better now.

Is the sounds you are trying to play under vo/ or music.
There is a lot of sounds you cannot play in the hammer editor. The only good fix is to unpack all the sound files that do not work and play them manually.
Try http://theportalwiki.com/wiki/Voice_lines for playing any voice sound.

Okay so I don't know if this is just me, but since the update today I can't click on any of the menu icons in the SDK launcher........HALP MEH

Hope it will come very soon! Im dying from not making maps! :O

Valve is probably being bombarded by a chorus of complaints right now. (In the key of livid.)

I'm in the somewhat venerable position of not having downloaded the updates yet, so until better news arrives, Steam will be in offline mode for the time being... :cry:

New updates kinda screwed a few things up... I don't have the "can't launch" error (sorry for ppl who have it :<), but i do have a weird problem. I compiled my map then tried to build the cubemaps. Got a crash saying the game couldn't find my map in the portal2 dlc1 folder.

So i copy pasted my map there and tried again. It worked, except now my map has crappy low-res textures. I checked my own options and my textures are still set to high. So now i'm going to try rebuilding my map but i'm not sure it'll do anything.

EDIT: nope, didn't do anything. Oh well i hope it'll fiz itself lol.
Also, now i always get the portalgun with the glados potato on it, from the very beginning, even if I didn't give it to the player. Kinda annoying.

Well, if you are using the usual elevator instance "instances/turbine_elevator/arrival_elevator_a4_base.vmf", it could be due to that. Check out this in order to remove the potato from your portalgun:

Though it's a bit strange that you have this issue now and NOT before this damn update...
