how do you make a ball?
I see the ball receptable, but not the ball. Coreball? DOesnt seem to be it. Any help would be appreciated.

yes i did, searched the forums, the wiki etc -wasnt any help.
Also, I made a cube and set its type to "spehere" and its still a cube...
I saved, compiled and ran the game --its a cube

Now I've added "skin OLD: sphere" at someone's suggestion. Its a cube.

Try adding a dropper instance Instead

And add this instance
portal 2/sdk_content/instances/gameplay/sphere_dropper_multiple_normal.vmf
That;s ok, I really appreciate everyone trying to help. I thought I was losing my mind. Clearly its some kind of bug or a change in the way they make balls, I just don't know. I'll start looking into the dropper, but thats new ground for me.

It should work one, and no bug should happen, anyway, the dropper is easier than you think.
