My first Portal map! It's a single player map consisting of 4 quite easy, short chambers which should take about 15 minutes to complete.

As .vpks are currently not working due to DLC pack, please extract all files to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2

In game press ` (to the left of 1) to open the console and type "map faith" to play the level.

Once .vpks are working again I will release an update.

Hope you enjoy, and any comments/feedback/recommendations please let me know in the topic link below.

If you should happen to get stuck I have posted a video walk through here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZSODxmIBDU

Release updates:
v1.0 - Inital release
v1.1 - Fix bug in chamber 4: you can get stuck if you don't keep a cube with you.
v1.2 - Fix bug in chamber 4: there are too many cubes so you can get through the chamber by cheating.
v1.3 - Bridge leading to Chamber 2: You can no longer run along the top while it is down.
Chamber 2: The main puzzle has new geometry, so that cubes cannot fall between the gaps of the arms.
v1.4: Chamber 1 and 2: Droppers fixed so that buttons only reset once the dropper is closed.

File Size: 3.71 MiB

All that was missing from the first chamber was a Bob Barker personality sphere to cheer me on!

Not sure why the last chamber had so many cubes, enough to build yourself a staircase over the wall. It seems like the intended solution would only need a couple, and it's possible to do with just one.

the "pachinko" board was a nice new creation. overall the puzzles were relatively easy, cube flinging and manipulation. Nice concept and well executed. Thanks for creating.

Nice puzzle idea. The conundrum of randomness is well chosen and because it's only one thing it wokrs well for that puzzle.

Very clever idea. No glitches etc, you desrive a

One thing to point out, it was hard for me to throw the cube from the catwalk to the button in the first room. It was too luckbased.

It is possible to get stuck in the last room with all the cubes. I jumped over the wall without one and had no means to get back.. That I found

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

awesome map. I've only played a handful or use maps and yours is as good as any in the actual game. a few maps I've tried are pretty crap (but certainly better than I can do).

What is the intended method to solve the final room ?

What i did was build up a stack of cubes by the entry to the exit door room. portal roof and floor of entry gateway, setup cube high speed falling between the two, go up the stairs, shoot the roof of the entry gateway so it hits the roof switch, panel tilts, portal and jump through to exit door room using tilted panel, go get a box from the previously setup stack, exit. is this what was intended ?

thanks again, cool map.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was watching a friend play the level and he did the same thing. Not Something that i thought of in my testing, but I've fixed the issue in v1.1.

Glad you enjoyed the level!

You basically got it right. The idea is though that you take a cube with you as you jump through the portal on the tilted panel.

That was the longest level I've played that didn't require any portals
XSITEzqdTuQ

Fun ideas in those first two rooms though.

4/5. The lack of difficulty doesn't mean lack of fun (right, John11?). The pachinko machine was a nice twist of randomness. The intended solution to the last room is the kind of thing that usually gives me fits, but it was just quick enough to make me want to nail it, instead of hammer it.

BTW, it's best to compile all your custom content into the .bsp. You can use bspzip.exe, see BSPZIP. Others use utilities like PakRat, but I can't comment on it because I've never used it. There's a link to it in the BSPZIP page cited above.
See my signature for a way to play .vpk files post-DLC1.
