My Theory on Turrets

Aperture Science is smart(ish). I'm pretty sure they wouldn't build a turret just to have it killed by the test subject. I'm thinking that Turrets probably have some sort of hidden "reboot" switch. When removed from a test chamber (panels pushing them back, floor opens to clear everything or something) a maintenance robot takes the Turret and switches it back on, ready for the next test.

Have you seen the Portal 2 comic about turrets? Try looking at that before going anywhere with this theory.

It doesn't disprove my theory. I did not say there's a switch to DEACTIVATE turrets, I said that there's a switch to REACTIVATE turrets. A scientist tipping over a turret to deactivate it doesn't prove anything.

Its probably a way of defeating the turret without exploding it with fire or something. Valve has their workarounds.

Um, I thought turrets worked alot like bowling pins. The ones that are out of place when the test ends are removed via the computer (ie glados) with the chambers panels or whatever, and then sent to 'redemption' (also faulty turrets are sent here [under normal operation]). They are then reassembled in the turret factory and sent to test chambers.

Then the whole process repeats.

iWork, I always assumed turret redemption was complete incineration, thus the orange glow.

I think they're melted there for recycling

I think some of the commentary in Portal 2 mentions about turrets being made, boxed up, and recycled.

Pretty sure it says they're disassembled just to be reassembled again.

Aperture Science. Never economically making sense.

I'm sure they have their own way to make their energy. If they can make a light bridge from a single pannel, they can generate energy for all the aperture installations from 2-3 pannels

If they want electricity all they have to do is put two portals one above the other to create an infinite loop then run water through them to power a turbine.

Clever... very clever, so the easiest way to get green energy is using portals! w00t. (though the energy that is required to keep the portals should be less then what's generated from the water ofc)

Well, that depends on what kind of energy the portals use.
