Reflection Cube
Purpose: For redirecting Thermal Discouragement Beams (lasers).
Item Properties:
-Cube Type: Standard, Companion, Refection, Sphere, Franken
-Dropper Enabled: Whether or not a dropper will spawn above the cube
-Auto Drop First Cube: When checked/enabled, the dropper will automatically drop a cube after entering the test chamber.
-Auto Respawn Cube: When checked/enabled, the dropper will automatically drop another cube after the last cube is destroyed.
Connection: Only the box dropper can receive connections from buttons and other switches.
Should we have some of these just link back to the main pages, for example, Editor/Fizzler -> Emancipation Grill?
Track Platforms are a testing element in Portal 2. They can move in straight vertical or horizontal path across walls, floors and the ceilings of the test chamber.
[edit]Item Properties
-Rail Oscillate
-If checked, the Track Platform would stop in place once it's stopped moving.
-If unchecked, when the Track Platform has stopped moving it will revert back to it's original position.
-Start Active
-If checked, the Track Platform will begin to move when the map is loaded.
Not much to this element.
EDIT: Just added some info to "Gels"
EDIT: I'll post the rest in the morning, I stayed up all night yesterday.
Sorry guys.
If anyone is concerned about quality, check the articles on the Portal 2 Level Design page (link on the top of this site "Portal 2 Mapping Wiki"). Most of those articles are well written.
EDIT: Also quickly added some useful information about item limits from the Steam Forums to this page:
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Portal_2_Puzzle_Maker/Common_Issues
EDIT II: - fixed all those links in those articles so they actually work....
Okay, here's an edit I would like to make for the sake of wiki consistancy and style but I thought I would run it by you guys first before I changed anything.
In my opinion, the page that msleeper links to in the OP of this thread (https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wik ... zzle_Maker) should be a page that describes the editor itself without going into any how-to material. This is much the same way that the page for Hammer is constructed:
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wik ... mer_Editor
As you can see, the page isn't a hub for Hammer users; it simply explains what Hammer is and a concise history of it. This is the direction I think we should go for the Puzzle Maker page as well, but at the moment, you guys are constructing it as a how-to hub, which I think belongs on the category page:
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wik ... zzle_Maker
This is more consistant with the rest of the wiki, for example:
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wik ... vel_Design and
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wik ... vel_Design
To match these layouts I've done a quick mock-up on my sandbox:
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wik ... ta/Sandbox
I definately think we should be using that mock-up (which is basically a more organized version of the current Puzzle Maker page) the question is, should we use it on the Puzzle Maker page itself, or in the Puzzle Maker category index? I vote for the latter as it makes much more sense to me, given the structure of other pages and categories on the wiki. Discuss.

I haven't seen it yet; spoil it for me and I'll punish you.
Okay I've left a message on Jeff Lane's talk page before making changes. Feel free to add your thoughts there or in this thread.
Regardless, I made an entry for the Laser Emitter, added a little tip to Editing Tips and added an explanation of how to export to Hammer in the FAQ.

Should the main Puzzle Editor page talk more about canon? I think I'll sign up and add that information.
No. The VDC isn't for fluff. It's a technical manual.
