Hello!

me and some other guys have been working a Mod called Sortal. We started about a year ago but unfortunately the team isn't working on it as dedicated as in the beginning anymore. That's why I came here to look for new people willing to work on this with me.

Sortal will have a unique story as well as new testelements. The story is set between the events of Portal and Portal 2.

In short: Mark Johnson, the evil brother, has killed Cave. He did that in order to steal the Portal Gun plans and to send them to his partners at Black Mesa. Meanwhile, in his own company Aperture Science 2, he's experimenting with solar panels and wind mills to generate the energy for "GalDer" (Genetic Lifeform and Disk Evolving Robot).

Hm. The idea of these coloured fizzlers can for sure make several highly logical and interesting puzzles. As for the story of the mod, to be honest, that sounds kinda strange and, yeah, somewhat ridicolous when I read over it. Although I'm not really sure whether the story of my mod sounded better if I explained it briefly. Your story-telling-skills had better to be very good to persuade and involve the player.

However, most people on this forum, like me, are already working on their own mods or maps and in the past time we have numerous times seen that these calls for support of mod groups go unanswered, mainly because people don't like to put much work into one mod and then to be not mentioned as the one creator, but rather as minor helper. It would be some kind of envy, if you view it from a bad perspective.

And by the way, are you from Germany? (Judging from the way you pronounce the word "purple" as "Purpur")

Your story doesn't really sound interesting and while the concept of the different colors fizzlers and cubes looks quite interesting that movie looks like more like a proof-of-concept instead of something that is supposed to attract people to be working on your mod.

Yeah mate, I'm also looking for a team, you've got yourself some interesting new test elements, but your story sounds very very dumb. If I wans't doing my own mod I'd joing you, but as people said before , it seems this isn't the right place to "recruit" people...

I think generally it's a big mistake to introduce a large amount of new "lore" into the Portal 2 storyline. Especially if said lore contradicts what has already been established in the singleplayer campaign. Cave Johnson dies from lunar poisoning. Also, the portal gun Cave Johnson used was very primitive and backpack operated, while the portal gun you see in Portal 2 was designed presumably by GLaDOS years after Cave Johnson's death. Thus, the portal gun technology being stolen wouldn't make sense.

How many times have you heard the term "Blabla's evil brother"? Way too many times in my opinion.

Aperture Science 2... Really? I know it's supposed to be funny, but it just comes off as lazy writing...

If you want to do a story set between Portal 1 and 2 try a more subtle approach. Only hint small parts of the story and have the player fill in the blanks. That's what Valve does and it works really well. Unfortunately it leads people to over think simple things like who Chell actually is. No, she's not Caves adopted daughter -.- Conspiracy theorists ahoy!

Of course, all the PTI "multiverse" stuff is now canon. There must be one universe where Cave has an evil brother.

The fizzlers look interesting, and would lead to some interesting puzzles.

Yeah. Maybe Chell and GLaDOS used to be lesbians and tried to have adopt a kid together, but they weren't allowed to. So GLaDOS became frustrated and started working on putting her brain in a computer, so that she could figure out a way to trick the adoption industry. Chell tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge when she found out that GLaDOS finally managed to merge herself with a computer. Chell were saved by GLaDOS though and she put put her in the relaxation vault with the long-fall-boots on her so that she couldn't do it again. Meanwhile GLaDOS found Cave Johnson's portal device and started experimenting with it to find a way to portal a baby from China to her. But she forgot about the original intentions of the portal technology while testing on other humans. She even forgot about Chell and started testing with her, but a small part of her shines through every time she say that Chell is adopted...

Now that is a good conspiracy story!
