[Solved] Texture/Lightning issues with door fitted into wall

Completely new to Hammer I was watching Youtube tutorials for hours and then I decided to give it a try. So I created a room, with a wall in the middle, a button attached to a checkmark and a door. The logic works fine (though I forgot to fully draw my indicator lights) but I have issues with the door I tried to fit into the wall. Here's what I've done so far:

x Opened zoo_mechanics.vmf
x Turned back to the entry door
x Deleted the trigger and the skip with all the items until I got this: Screenshot 1
x Copied the selected wall into my map and fitted around the door and applied the temporary dev_measure texture

But I have a really weird issue I cannot resolve without help. It's about being the copied wall too bright. Here are two screenshots from both sides (I know the texture is not perfectly aligned yet...): Screenshot 2 and Screenshot 3

In the first case the shadow of my checkmark indicates issues with the front wall (it is only 2 units thick) and the back wall, which is just a Shift-copy of the first one, shows even more obvious that something is wrong!

Is this a typical n00b fail or is it more complex what I have encoutered here? I would like to get this solved with your help. :notworthy:

Thanks!

Normally when I get this I set the texture's X and Y values under "Texture Shift" to zero and make sure that where it says "Align" to have the World checkbox checked instead Face. That works for me.

P.S. press (Shift+A) if you have no idea where the things I'm talking about are.

The usability of Hammer is not as good as it could be - World and Face were grayed out and I thought they are not clickable... but this worked for me and there are no more issues

Thanks for such fast reply!
