HAMMER Error at startup

I had to move my entire Steam installation to another hard drive and now HAMMER refuses to load due to a missing file. The Authoring tools run well enough, but when I try to load HAMMER the stupid thing gives me an error message. You can see the message below.

Setup file 'GameInfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory 'c:\program
files\steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\portal 2'.
Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting.

Does anyone know what I can do about this? I need help VERY soon. Thank you in advance.

p.s. If you are also on the Steam Forums, please note that you can find a thread about this issue at: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=2855650

Alexander Bell answered on that thread. I would like to thank him for his input. However, his advice was unsuccessful at solving the problem.

I think the suggestion to install it correctly on your actual hard drive in the correct directories is what you should try.

It shouldn't matter which hard drive I install Steam on. The fact is if I had installed Steam on the drive it is currently on originally, I wouldn't be having this problem. It is only because I am unable to figure out how to link to the correct GamInfo.txt file that this is happening. Also, it seems that no one is getting that this is an "actual hard drive" that just happens to be external to the computer. It's not as though I have Steam installed on a flash drive or something.

Ultimately, I am not giving up the 30GB of free space I got on the C:\ drive just to make HAMMER happy. Steam is a VERY large thing and I happen to need the space on my hard drive.

If someone has some advice on how I can modify the "-game" parameter or where I can find the "vconfig" setting, that would be most helpful. I do not mean to sound unfriendly or insulting, but I shouldn't be having this issue and it is infuriating.

I fixed the problem. It was too late for me to enter the Heavy-duty Super-mapping Super-contest, but I did fix it. I just changed the paths in the GameConfig.txt file to reflect where the game is actually installed. Next time someone has this problem, this is the solution to give.

Further explanation: Hammer couldn't find GameInfo.txt at the path specified because when you move hard drives (specifically different drive letters or from 32-bit to 64-bit) the path becomes invalid. It's simple enough to fix, just find GameConfig.txt and replace the old paths with the newer ones. I had the exact same problem when I moved from my old 32-bit computer to my new 64-bit computer because the path changes from C:/Program Files/... to C:/Program Files (x86)/...
