Defective turrets?
Posted Aug 17, 2012
I understand how to make turrets use the defective model, but they still speak like the normal ones. Is there a way to change that?

Set them to be Gagged, Out of Ammo, and Used As Actor so they don't speak. You'll need the scene files to make them do anything except play dead, although you can still make them catch on fire, explode, try to fire, etc.

So they can't be used with actively firing turrets?

What do you want them to do? Not speak any lines but still fire? Use the Gagged option. Speak lines and attempt to fire but fail? Use Out of Ammo.

I think he wants them to speak like defective turrets AND fire.

So actually fire? Or fake-fire? (Just use the Out of Ammo flag to change this.)
Make a turret with the defective model, then make it Gagged. Name it, then use logic_choreographed_scenes to make it play defective lines.

I am actually trying to this too, but the voices are not playable as much of the lines are bugged to not play at all. Someone had posted a link to somewhere that had all the same files that were playable. Anyone have it?
EDIT: Found it after a lot of googleing
I will just post it here if anyone else comes along http://theportalwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
however now that i am playing it, it keeps saying the files are missing. I checked the cache and it still says the same thing

Are you trying to use ambient_generics with the files or something?
