Sounds loop endlessly (do NOT loop flag is checked)

So some of my sounds are looping endlessly, enven after the stopsound input. The playeverywhere, the do NOt loop, and the start silent flags are set. This only happens when I merge sound files in GoldWave, and they are saved as a 16 bit mono sound. Same as the ones that I don't have a problem with. I would use Faceposer, but i've been getting the shaderapidx9.dll error lately. (since the orane box update, CURSE YOU VALVE!!!!!!)

please help me. My map is coming along great, minus this.

thanks in advance,
dvlstx.

Oh, and I've already tried valves support help. ( i have vista home premium.) they tell my to goto local security policy, which isn't there for me.)

Are you using the soundscript or the raw .wav file as the sound name?

I'm using the raw .wav for the sound. I made this myself. As of now, it doesn't have a soundscript file.

I don't know how to make one either, but I would strong recommend against it. It's a pain. Just use PakRat.

Because the original poster asked about a problem with his sound items.

Msleeper, trying to troubleshoot, asked if it was using a sound script.

The original poster replied in a way that indicated to me that he was trying to implement a sound script.

As I understand it, using PakRat to pack in the sounds is a superior alternative to using a sound script, so I expressed this.

Back on topic. I have no idea what might be causing this problem, I know that in order for sounds to loop they have to have some sort of bit or flag in the actual sound file, so check your sound program options? I'm not 100% sure on that, Hurricaaane knows better about that.

Post your settings for your ambient_generic, or whatever entity you are using to play your sound.

I have all of the flags checked, "do NOT loop", "Start Silent", and "Play Everywhere."

I used GoldWave to merge my sound files, and saved them as the same type as I save all of my sound files. (PCM signed, 16-bit mono)
They onlyl sounds that loop are the merged ones. (ie, if I add a static effect to the end of a sound clip my 'merging' or joining two+ sound files together. Non-merged/joined files do not have this problem.

I would like to avoid using PakRat, and soundscripts. These are not my problem.

Please don't argue with each other on this thread. It's barely keeping its little head above the water. (to use an irrelevant metaphore.)

Please upload the sound file somewhere, I'm gonna take a look at it and give a new file if what I'm thinking about is right.

Thanks, Huricaaane!
There are two file that are giving me trouble. Here they are.
Also, can you post what you did to make them work? It would be a big help for the future!

Also, can you see if you can fix it in GoldWave? This is the editing software that I use.

-Thanks,

Alright, there were cue lists. Removed!

I think those cue lists appear when merging sounds in your sound editing program. I don't know GoldWave. I used Cool Edit Pro, went on the Edit>Cue Lists menu and removed the entries.

To make a sound loop ingame, you need to make a Cue Entry over all the wavefrom. We can specify some special behaviour when the Cue Entry is not covering a part of the beginning of the sound.
