Portal2 no longer plays map in progress

I have been continuously been working on this one map and now portal 2 wont even load it anymore. It keeps going to a blank main screen, and when i open the console it says something about shutting everything down and that there is too many models.

I honestly think that is bunk. I have seen way more models in other people's maps than in mine

Is there really no more information you can provide? For example, the real error message or some infos about your map?

well the compiling screen said nothing was wrong, when it attempted to load the game in portal 2, it just switches to the main menu without the actual menu.

Right now i have to leave for work, but i can paste the console information afterwards

It's disconnecting for some reason, then? See if your end-of-level trigger is going off too early.

Haven't even put one in yet. I am not even finished working on the maps final room.

Are you using map or changelevel command?

Try changelevel, if you haven't already. map command always likes to do something bizarre which breaks the game until restart.

I'm pretty sure change level is used in singleplayer, it is what keeps your angles constant between loads... more used in HL when loads didn't take you to different screens

well I just used it now and it rejected it because I apparently was not hosting a server.

Have you tried renaming the map for example sp_a2_sdksdjf?

Some times the game just likes to reject custom maps because they're "named incorrectly", not sure if it applies to single player too, but it's Portal 2 and it breaks constantly, so it isn't pointless to try everything.

seems weird... .exe in the path name?

map sp_a10_project_zero
erm? was this a coop map? Coop maps MUST ALWAYS start with mp_coop_ because else they might glitch!!!
(probably this is your problem)

models/player/eggbot/eggbot_skin_WCC.mdl that's just one of the skins voor p-body; called eggbot in the textures :razz:

it is definitely not a coop map, I didn't put a single coop item in it.....that i am aware of

i bet by some shear accident i used that texture on something by mistake somewhere

Strange. Even though there are too much models the map should still run. Have you already verified the cache?

I guess you could also try to cordon parts of the map and see where it starts the oddity.

edit: I looked up the eggbot model and texture and according to hammer, they are not present anywhere in my map at all

You basically seal parts of the map and the parts outside won't be compiled at all. That's kind of useful for trying to find a malfunctioning entity etc.

oh..... I just select and press 'H' for hide. it pretty much does the same thing. And after having just tried this, the error now mentions another one of eggbots items that isn't even in my map.

WTF is Hammer tripping balls on?

Hmm, have you used instances or something odd for spawning the player? I guess the game thinks it's a co-op map when it's not.
