Hello. I have a strange problem, i cannot create proprely a working system as simple as a simple door and floor button system ! I tryied 2 different methods but each one generate a different problem. I need then to choose between sound problem or light problem. Here is a video so you can see exactly :

Between Method 1 and Metho 2, "physics objects" was unchecked in M1 and i checked it for M2 and here's the result. so to choose...no yellow light or sound problem ? It seems I can't configure it well.

You should have two triggers on the button, a larger one and a smaller one. The larger one should have only "clients" checked, and the smaller should have only "physics" checked.

It looks to me like in the first part of the video, you only have the outputs in the player trigger. If I recall how portal 1 buttons are made correctly, there should be a cylindrical func_door brush in the button. This is what the outputs should be on (e.g. onOpen and onClose).

If this is not the case, it might be that you have only one of the triggers set to move the door up and down. Make sure both are outputting to the door.

I got 2 triggers and the func_door is cylindrical, this is why I don't understand why I couldn't get it working proprely. Thanks for your answer

I bump this topic of several monthes because I still have got the problem, and this problem is the only reason why I don't continue make maps, I want to solve this first.

This is the only thing that really cause problem to me, and to many Portal 1 map makers, this may be easy to fix as they already made maps without having one of the above errors (see the video in the begin to see my problems).

This problem was enough to stop me definitly as nobody fixed it even with your help. I really want this problem to be fixed, I'll be able to make something I've already wanted, release a portal 1 map. I still have my old ideas on my head and will use them if someone is able to help me.

So, I ask again for help and hope someone can help me, but please note that I don't have my "test" map files anymore. The tutorials from Valve still don't help me, so maybe someone can make a test room for Portal 1 with a working scene of a door, a button, and the indicator lights with no problems on it. (that I could reuse for my levels).

This message is much more than a help request, this is like a "last hope" call. :notworthy:

DromEd, my suggestion would be to do the tutorials again, and then post the vmf file here so that someone can help you debug. I hesitate to simply make a sample for you since it won't help you learn, and you'll be more likely to make the same mistakes in the future.

If you really want an example of a working button, door, and indicator lights, take a look at the vmf file included with the SDK, or use VMEX to decompile any bsp.
