Suggetions for new mechanics
-Glass cube (breaks if dropped from too high)
-Gel grenade (grenade that squirts out gel when player drops it on the floor)
-128 Sentry turret (cylinderic turret that can't be picked up and fits in a 128 square).
-Gel container cubes
-Personality core turret (personality core that moves on a track and shoots the player, not to confuse with the hover turret).
-Bubble Blower (big object that blows big bubbles that could carry players and objects like the excursion funnel, but pops when they touch a wall and could be moved around with excursion funnels).
Some of these are clearly obvious, but some of them are quite complex or whatever the right word is to use on mechanics that require a bit of work on them. Add what you think should be added in the thread if you want.

I liked this one. I think it would fit very nicely in fling puzzles, including momentum and the Aerial Faith Plate.

Wait.. what?

It's a bit hard to understand without seeing it (if it turns out you don't understand).
Sort of like Pnematic Diversity Vents, but it blows instead of sucking.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Anyway, another idea is to have sticky boxes that other boxes can attach to in certain spots, forming a bridge, a long arm to take out turrets with, or more.
(Seriously, doesn't seem like anyone understood. I just thought this out from scratch and there is no way to "control it yourself". It comes from an excursion funnel similar object that is much more intresting than your fake attempt to provoke this thread).
@Stimichportals: Yeah, fans work too on this.

What I meant was that it sounds like an element that Aperture would not do. It just doesn't sound and feel something "Portal-ish".

You should watch the movie. It help me solve numerous technical problems due to its accurate rendering of physics in the real world. Such as people travelling in giant bubbles, an even better method of transportation then ballooning.

I disagree.
Encouragment beam - laser that doesn't burn turrets and activates targets.
I'll maybe post drawings to show how some things work.

A few ideas inspired by typos I've seen:
Pneumatic Density Vents - make everything that goes through them much lighter.
Portable Gel - when it splatters, the panel it hit gets phys_converted.
Explosion Funnels - red, with a spawner at the beginning making invisible prop_exploding_futbols. Don't stand at the end for too long.

Is the explosion funnel a hazard as well as a advantage I guess? Besides, those are good ideas.

(This can't be washed with water like a standard cube with orange gel).

keep this up and we'll have the base mechanics of portal 3 ready to go.

the bubbles are made from a slightly less dense and much less toxic form of latex/led paint mixed with a modified wood finish.
the substance is mixed in the manufacturing wing and then put into small paint cans, which are run through the Anti gravitational sphere dispenser, where they are each un-packed and immediately disposed of. NOW it's aperture styled.
EDIT: ...which could create a new branch-off mechanic where the player can use lasers to open the cans in BTS, which will create a bubble wherever the can was.
