Going insane in the brain!

Hello everyone! I've been away for a little bit. A lot has happened in my days away. I've moved out of my parents house, I've quit my old job and start a new one soon. But I've also been modding!

So behold ladies and gentlemen. Something that I'm actually proud of. In my mod, when you leave the cube behind in certain situations, you will go insane. I'm using this as a game-play mechanic to force them to get the cube back. Comments welcome!!!

Are there any effects besides the FOV change and sounds?

It looks like a cool idea.

Yah, but what happens when the player ignores it? Though the map is amazing.

How.... how do you ignore that? Also, doors stay locked until you get the cube.

Maybe he meant that instead of finding the cube, you proceed forward in the map. Like in amnesia if your sanity is low, you can move on or find sanity potions which restores your sanity.
But I assume you can't proceed without finding the cube first?

edit

What if you cant find the cube in time, does the player pass out or something like that?

So, let me know if I got it straight: you can actually go on without her, right? :p

Ehh, I asked does the player pass out if you're wandering around without her for too long, like in the video. Not can you go without her ...

This thread turned into a massive troll. I don't know why...

But there will most likely be a time limit on the time that you're in this state. We will have to see how it handles in play tests.

Hey Doug, seriously, I think this is awesome  Not only I think it's a very creative idea to manipulate the player's emotions by altering the view and creating such disorientation visually and auditorially, but I also think it's awesome to make the effect appear or intensify as the player gets further from the WCC

Cheer up man! Keep on the good job!

Damn, I have been trying to find a way how to force the player to keep his companion cube but this is such a good idea!

Well, the best way will always be the puzzles  ...that is the key of the wcc maps: you need to go using the cube in several puzzles to get through the map until the very end of it.
