Okay, I'm curious, is there a way to make an image 'flicker' not like on and off, but like a 2D hologram?

Wut. (Layered textures probably).

yeah you could go for a layered image and use something (maybe a logic_timer) to switch between layers; giving that effect; or you could make it into a func_brush and try to change the rendermode to a pre-set pattern.

You can also make a stack of brushes with the same texture, so it looks kind of fuzzy and unfocused. (Set the rendermode to additive so they all add up.) The big monitors in Half-Life 2's City 17 use that effect too.

To make it flicker, you could randomly switch some layers on and off with logic_case and logic_timer entities.

Hmm my programming knowledge is limited but, wouldn't a case function need "If" equations?
Though I suppose that will work >=3
Now to go commission some creepy pics of Doug Ratman :3

Also suspicious stare at your post number when you made that post <_<'''

He's a global moderator. You have no need to be worried about being fed information. Choose one of these ways as there probably is no other easier way. It's how you make custom content.

He's referring to Skotty's post count right now being 666, which is said to be the Number of the Beast in the Book of Revelation.

Nah, this version is much better than revelantions!
