Hi All, Just saying hello and how amazed and wondered I am that such a revolutionary type of game play can be extended with such ongoing content and support as provided in this site.
Well done to all....

My only critisism is, why do I have to download and play all these maps one by one, can't someone pack them into groups so I can play through them all automaticaly one after the other ..

Hats off to the top placings of the competition, been playing the maps last 2 nights.
Great fun.

It is much more difficult to maintain the maps by the original authors if it is all in one pack. I can see if all of the maps are 100% done and polished to do that.

It wouldn't be too hard to throw together a PHP script that plugs right in to this site's download system and maintains download packs. I think the tricky part would just be getting permission to do this with people's mods. I guess you could make a notice on the site's upload page that says "If you upload your map to this site, you give us permission to include it (fully credited to you) in downloadable map packs" or something like this.

Honestly, every time I think about doing something like this, I remember that a) there is a bunch of functionality like the extras menu that is currently unused and b) Valve is planning on releasing official DLC packs. Thus, I'm inclined to wait until we see how they are going to distribute their DLC before we spend a lot of work coming up with our own system.

So, hopefully we'll find out some time this summer. (After the gaming press moves on from the TF2 free-to-play thing and Valve wants to get back in the news .)

WTB some sort of map distribution system through the existing in-game store.

You forget VALVe has a serious problem of procrastination. But I could have swore they did that at MyApertureLabs. It was like 150 maps I think.

I don't remember anything much about it on the forum at mAL, and I've been there for a long time. Might have slipped by in the actual uploads, though, I don't check them as frequently or thoroughly.

And if we could group the maps, the other thing that would look cool, is if the map author could tag the entry walls to their map with their details and may be similar on exit.
