I'll upload A Little Higher and Tornate when I'm back to sitting on my PC all day, banging rocks together..
Download Database is a Go!

I lol'd
- Made a javascript check to see if all the necessary form elements were filled out
- Made it impossible to remove your name from the author list (its now sent as a hidden input element so even if you do manage to change the text inside the disabled input box, it won't send that. Sorry, but I don't want people uploading as like jstalin99 or whatever)
- It's now possible to have two maps with the same filename in the database (probably no one noticed this but before the form would return an error if your map name already existed. Now it simply renames the file by adding the current time in seconds since the Unix Epoch - dunno, that's just what the time() function returns)
This afternoon I plan to start on the edit/delete form. It'll be admin-only at first, but eventually you'll be able to access it from a "my files" page.

So what happens if I change my forum display name to jstalin99 and then upload? Is that still safe?
...technically, yes
Point is, you should only be able to upload as you.
Search feature is marginally better, thumbnails are displaying again and you can actually get to all the results, there's no pagination yet though besides the forward and back arrows.
- Admins and map author (only first author - i.e. uploader - for now) can edit/delete files
- Main page login box fix (I don't know if anyone even noticed it was broken besides me - and anyway it still needs some work, it doesn't display login errors so if you get your password wrong you can't tell)
- Sidebar map list only displays first 40 characters (to avoid formatting weirdness)
- Upload form map name box limited to 64 characters to avoid unexpected cutoff
Next couple of things on my to-do list
- Forum autoposting
- Better searching (prolly keep the current one around as Browse or something)
- Ratings

I vote we change the voting images to lemons, compared to potatoes.
I suggest simple stars or something basic, maybe just numbers (e.g. 4.3 etc.)

I can see why you'd want simplicity but IMO it's not needed, since it's fairly apparent that it's the rating, and I think making it Portal styled would be cool.

I support cakes.
Hipster? Perhaps. Old meme is old? Maybe. But I like cake a lot more than I like potatoes.
Be careful though, because pressing the back button at the wrong time can create an extra thread. Not sure how to prevent that and I don't have the energy to look into it tonight.
The rest seems cool though.

I would just point out that the download page for a map will say "Click for more info" when clicking it will collapse the extra info. The rest seems cool though.
yeah, I noticed that and fiddled with it for about 5 minutes but then I had other things I needed to be working on so I passed it by
something to do with the javascript and PHP not talking to each other very nicely...I'll take a look at it again some time.

I support cake more than lemons, but feared the community would get mad at me.
I'm with Sven. Up with cakes! Down with potatoes!

I don't dislike them, I just like cake more.
Outstanding file database things I can think of that I have left (if you think of any more just post them):
- Filter by author's files (this could get complicated, I might have to end up referencing the forum database, and that'll get messy really fast. I'm putting it off)
- Better search (by map type, by keyword, and filter by elements/tags)
- PTI integration (I could probably set this up pretty easily, except I want to make sure that files are associated with your username and that you're actually the person who uploaded them. What I might end up doing is making a custom profile field that associates your forum account with your steam account, but that's also gonna get messy as phpBB is still greek to me.)

How about Aperture Logos for ratings, dependent on the map's theme? Perhaps have a "theme" selection box available during upload, and based on the user's selection, either the Aperture, Aperture-with-W (Wheatley), 70s, or 40s/50s logos are used as the ratings indicators.
The problem with that idea is that 1) it only works really for portal 2 maps and 2) maps often mix multiple themes
