One thing I did change from Omni's solution is how global it needs to be. I've found a way to make the effect work on only specific parts of the map, connected by world portals. And even though all the world geometry is tied to func_brushes, the sealing world brushes between the sections can help somewhat with visleaves.
I don't know how well it will work out, but hopefully well enough to build and release a small test with it.

Very cool. It makes me wonder how Valve was originally planning on building puzzles with that gel in mind... Oh hey, question!
Where did you get that addon/mod to have an actual hand on the Portalgun? I have something similar for Portal and have been looking for a Portal 2 version.
EDIT: Ben thinks it does, but the version I have is from here. I don't know if they're related or not.
No new video today, but I made some progress behind the scenes. Transitions are cleaner, you can walk straight from gel to ground, and cubes don't randomly freeze.
My current plan is to make the player stand on a button to activate the funnel, since various bad things happen if the player can get in it. For example, transitions between perpindicular surfaces are REALLY GLITCHY.

It's actually a quite nice little puzzle laid out in the PTI editor. I'm just rebuilding it in Hammer and adding the adhesion gel. If you think you can do better, why not show me?

I'm sick of the default a1 loading screen. Props if you can identify the map or the music without looking at the description.
