For the record, TWP qualifies as heavy machinery. So do not operate TWP while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Indeed. It seems a lot of the "OMG AWESOME" rush of the initial portal release (And subsequent mapping frenzy) has worn off already. And without a multiplayer DM-like mode that drove HLDM and CS (That and the lack of a full SDK for mods) seems to drive mapping communities further into the ground.

However, Portal has some pretty good depth in it, I cant seem to understand why it is failing...., and also lol.

I stupidly forgot to bring my VMFs home with me for the holidays, so my map pack's on haitus until I get back to college in early january.

At least the maps aren't eating my life anymore.

I'm hoping to have my maps released sometime mid-January. Wasnt able to bring the maps with me back home. Was too busy lazing around on the couch anyways.

An official map pack by Valve with something like 100 puzzles would probably be Portal's messiah, making it some kind of modern "The incredible machine" (a puzzle game that used to be quite popular a while ago).

Maybe trying to distribute high quality map packs made by amateurs on steam would be a good plan to renew interest.
If we grouped all quality maps on TWP in one pack, it sure could be interesting enough for a lot of people to download.

But we would have to discuss this with valve's staff and accept their probable conditions.

I've got some friends who have Portal on xbox360 and such, and they want to play my maps. But I think the only way to get them onto the consoles is if Valve were to release 'em. So a map pack would be really great.
Maybe a pack containing both... lots of official ones, and some of the best user made?

I guess the best way to know what Valve thinks about this is to contact them directly with an E-mail.

The author should probably be one of our moderators, in order to look more serious.
IMO, this is worth a try. But the moderators are the one who will decide.
