Firstly, what would happen if you somehow managed to put a functioning Portal Gun into Mirror's Edge? Also, can anyone think of any games that would work well with the Portal Gun?

Well, I don;t think a portal gun in mirrors edge is a good idea; then you can skip most of the running and just portal :O. If you make special courses it could be possible but I don't think it really fits in the game. I'd like to see shooters with portalguns.
(In fact I'm planning to create a Call of Portals: Modern Portalfare 17.3 map; a 2 person shooter map where you have access to portals; deadly stuff and portalguns. But I currently don't have time to create it. Something with two mods 
)

It may well be that, unless Valve has copyrighted the portal concept (which I doubt they can do), portal guns and similar mechanics might become commonplace in futuristic shooter/platform/puzzle-type games, just as guns themselves became popular in the first place.
There'd probably be a lot of hate at first for games that "rip off" Portal (I know this one got a ton of it), but less than two decades ago every first-person shooter was called a "DOOM-clone". Times do change.
Slightly off-topic, since I know you're talking about existing games, but I thought it was an interesting point for discussion.

It's a map running in Portal 2 using assets from Half-Life 2. It's literally the easiest thing to do.

I could think of something easier...
Anyway, I think another good game with a portal gun is Garry's Mod, but that's more playground map related, unless your playing other HF2 maps on it.

LOL mirrors edge with a portal gun. Faith becomes accustomed to using portals to get where she's going and becomes gradually fatter as the game progresses. The game ends with GLaDOS insulting her for packing on so many pounds.

I thought that the Portal Gun mod had broken in Garry's Mod...
guess they updated it.

At least you can escape from those meat eating flies and those exploding things easier. (Plus avoid sawblades and extremely hard jumps).
