I uploaded a WIP earlier and about 10 min later someone rates the map without downloading it (I could tell because the total downloads was still 0). The rating was 4/5, but that's not what's bothering me. Is this some sort of sick joke?

Yeah, I think me and you finally have some common ground to stand on. The rating system is bugged, how dare they rate your map 4/5. Its CLEARLY only deserving of 1/5.

I hope sleeper fixes this soon. Otherwise others might unwittingly download your map.

Not only that, it could happen to other people also.

On a unrelated note: I think I'm getting used to your verbal abuse, I don't feel mad at you even if you think my maps are crap. Huh, weird.

I think he was being sarcastic when he said "clearly." He complimented my last pictures that I stuck up relating to this. Look, I just don't want anyone getting into any trouble, unless they're spamming the rating system.

I didn't rate it myself, especially when nobody has even downloaded it yet (now 2 people). If you're going to make a somewhat convincing lie about a map, wait for a few people to download the map first before rating it. But don't do that either.

I have to disagree with certain aspects, not things that are opinion (because its your right to have an opinion), but things you claim as fact when they either arn't or not possible claimable as facts. Regarding the last little bit about post counts, join dates, bans and what not. At the end of the day, its a free account with a couple of numbers under it. Once lost, can easily be recreated. (Not that I have done anything, wrong or deserve a ban.) But once again your are entitled to your opinion.

Well MasterLagger, I suppose you could consider everything that iWork says to be sarcasm, and then that would be a justification for everything he says, but most times he's just acting like a 5th grader. I actually don't know how good of a mapper is as i've only played a collab. map that he helped work on.

I'm locking this thread for now. While I don't have the time at the moment, tomorrow I'll write out a longer reply answering a few questions.

Alright, so it took a little longer to write this up.

In any case, yes, the current DLDB software has a few flaws. It is, as has been noted, possible with some difficulty to forge ratings for maps. To be completely honest, I'd just ignore the ratings in favor of forum comments, mainly for two reasons. First, since it's bugged we can't guarantee it's accurate, and second, forum comments give much more accurate feedback.

We are working on a new DLDB system. However, there are a few challenges. First, none of us really have any free time, and those that do (mostly just me I think) don't have nearly enough experience with PHP to write up a new one, much less one that hooks into the existing threads, data tables, and files on our hosting mirror.

But all of this has been stated before. Thanks for sticking with us, we're trying to keep things up and running as best we can. A new spotlight should be coming within the week, and look for more ahead.
