Does anyone of you have the same problem? I can start the game, but every time, I enter the main manu, I get a CTD. My computer has the resolution 1920 x 1080. I tried every resolution on my computer, tried to run it in compatibility mode, I did almost everything. Any solutions? I posted earlier, that I can't run the game with Steam at the moment, so I can't use the Steam version and have to use the backup version.

I had this one time once the Valve logo was finished. Just verify the integrity of the cache and try running it again.
EDIT: 4am. sorry for bad grammar

Maybe I can play Portal 2 with Steam on Monday. I am going to try it then, thank you!

This.
As a side note, it surprises me how many people try compatability mode for pretty much every kind of problem they face these days, as if it were some magic fix-all. Out of all the causes of a Source engine crash, I can't think of a single one that compatibility mode could fix.

Okay, we have monday and my game still has to download 600 MB. I think, it'll be done on thursday. I'll tell you, if it worked. Thanks for the advice.
Edit
Aaaand another fucking 2GB of stuff for the download.

Heyy, it did work! When I defragmented the integrity of the game cache, the 2 GB were decreased to 600MB, as before. Now after 3 days of downloading, it finally worked. Oh and there are so much great maps since my game crashed... where am I supposed to start? _
Er, however, this is solved now, thanks!
