Set after the events of Portal 2. New Aperture has been left to Decay. The chambers are broken, find your own way out.

Three really good and awesome looking maps.
It took me ages to solve part 2 of part 2 and I literally bumped my head against the wall, when I found the solution. That is how it's got to be.
Thanks for creating. 5/5.

Currently stuck on part 2 of part 2, really impressive so far. One thing though was that you were totally slowing my computer down with some of your levels. I can run Portal 2 fairly well on my computer, so the fact that my framerate was stuttering was really surprising.

Anyways, map is excellent so far, I'm gonna try to finish it up when I have more time.

Thanks both.

Someone has put walk through on youtube if you get really stuck.

About the framerate; I optimised as much as I could. I'm not sure what else I could do to increase the FPS I'm afraid. Probably just reducing the overall huge model count would help... if I can bring myself to do it.

One of the major reasons that these maps are causing slowdown for people isn't just because of the number of models/textures but how incredibly horrible your visleafs are. Play for a few min with 'mat_leafvis 1' and 'mat_wireframe 1' and you'll see what I mean. The map is almost always rendering brushes and models that can't be seen by the player.

Also, by playing with 'mat_wireframe 3' I can tell that you have a lot of brushes that should be func_detail. That alone would improve your visleafs and performance. You should also use hint brushes on maps like these to manually split your vislefs.

You probably won't bother editing any of this on these maps but you really should look into better optimization for future maps.

Wow, this map runs really, really slow. I restarted Portal 2 the first time I played since I thought that there was something wrong with the game. Look into what taco said and try and make something a bit more optimized next time.

The visuals are good, but there is some real differences from room to room. Sometimes it feels like something out of the single player and sometimes it's just plain and odd looking. A bit more consistency would be nice.

I just couldn't solve Part 2. Now, I'm the guy that gets frustrated when I can't figure stuff out and I know other people like cryptic puzzles, but I thought that Part 2 was weird. The first puzzle was spread out over such a large area. Why?

Damn, don't have time to wright more right now. The maps were good, but laggy and a bit cryptic in my opinion.

Believe me anything that sticks out is a func_detail.

I tried my best to make clean visleafs. The problem is just that all the chambers use a very open plan, almost everything is visible all at once so visleafs can't really help. I couldn't easily fix this, it's just something I have to more aware of next time. More corners!

The other problem is there are multiple chambers in one map, something Valve avoided. I could split the maps further, but again that's a big change to make this late.

I've learnt from this for my next map.

That's how maps work now. Click Subscribe then just load up Portal 2 and click Play Community Chambers, it will list all the maps you are subscribed to.

  1. You need to have Steam to download the file
  2. You need Portal 2 to play the map

No Steam = No Portal = No Maps

Portal is on sale at $6.79 at the moment.

Less than SEVEN dollars. That's about three slices of plain pizza. Two if you get tons of toppings.

Given the hours of entertainment I've gotten out of Portal 2, I'd say $6.79 is an incredible price. Just buy the game.

Paypal? Buy a pre-paid credit card? Stop getting angry when people don't want to help support your act of copyright infringement?

Sorry, we won't make our maps backwards compatible for people that are stealing from Valve...

You had another version uploaded here before instead of the workshop, hadn't you? I remember that there was no lag with that one. But it wasn't that bad for me in this version either, after the first puzzle in the first clean room the lag was gone on my computer.

@Logic: That part took me forever in the earlier version, too. He made it a bit easier though by one special sign with an arrow pointing on an important surface. Hope this helps.

  • It's cheap
  • Because it's an awesome game
  • You support Valve (THE best gaming company in the world if you ask me)
  • I bet you have a Call of Duty game that you or your parents payed 60 bucks for

So what you're saying is that YOU, a person that haven't payed shit for a game that some people have been working their asses off on should have the same rights as people that have bought the game?

NO! Thats like saying that you should get a free pizza out of a coupon that you made yourself!

Buying a game = The right/ability to make/play custom maps = Lots and lots of fun!

Stealing a game = No rights whatsoever = Getting yelled at on a forum = Not fun!
