I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
Steve jobs resigns
The company as we know it is over.
Steve Jobs is Apple. Without his leadership, Apple is nothing.
Just look back into history to see what happened when he's not involved in the day-to-day business. Apple was cranking out junk.
His liver transplant must have did him in. I took care of many patients with liver transplant. They're never the same after the transplant.
...sorry, that was insensitive of me. Really, really insensitive. In all seriousness, though, this is a dreadful shame, and things will, for better or worse, change permanently from now on. As a proud iPad user, they'd better not go downhill (:D) bit I could see why they might.

Yet it served as the springboard for the opinions of others. It's called Off-Topic for a reason, there aren't any specific guidelines for "news-type" threads.
Once the company goes under, there will be no support for the products.
And if the company is defined by one person, that's a really bad sign.
No one is immortal.

Don't have something constructive to post...don't post. Simple as that.

This was the reason I posted it.
Although Apple may not go entirely downhill as Tim Cook was basically running the company on a day to day basis whilst Jobs was off for illness.
Tim may "seem" that he's running the show, but the Emperor is the real ruler. Just talk to Darth Vader as who's the boss.
Also look at who's really running Russia. Who ever thinks that Putin is not the real boss is an idiot.
Tell us, when will Episode 3 come out?
I can tell you that Episode 3 is coming out before 2050 though.
I feel sorry that he passed away, a very outstanding person who revolutionized multi-media, music and content-sharing. He was the drive behind many start-ups, including his own. As Obama said, Jobs has "changed the world."
Always remembered, may he rest in peace.
