I have Guitar Hero III for the Wii, and was gunna buy another guitar for it when i saw that Rock Band is coming out (for the Wii) on June 22.

BUT: After many searches on line it seems that the guitars will not be compatible. this worries me, i'm not gunna drop $169 if i can't use both guitars for both games..

so i ask you: Of you that have XBox360 (or PS2) (or PS3) AND Guitar Hero III AND Rock Band; Are your guitars compatible with both games?

Of you that have a Wii AND Guitar Hero III are you thinking about buying Rock Band? do you know anything more about if your guitars will be compatible?

and lastly: Of you that have Rock Band (with or without other games): Is it fun? cool? i mean i like Guitar Hero III, and used to play the drums in school... Will i like this? probly?

Guitar Hero controllers are compatable with every game, Rock Band controllers only work on Rock Band. Although the Wii might be completely different since it's controller is built into the Wiimote while the Rock Band controllers will be on a USB hub. Also, imo, the Rock Band guitar sucks bad. It is horrible and you will want to use the GH3 controller instead.

I agree that the Rock Band guitars are terrible compared to GH3 ones. The controls on the Rock Band guitars are very "soft" as compared to the GH3 ones. For instance, when you strum the GH3 controller it clicks in to place, the Rock Band controllers don't do this (same for the note buttons.)

On the topic of how good Rock Band is. I feel that GH has better staying power than Rock Band, it keeps my interest much longer than Rock Band does. As group games go though, you really can't beat Rock Band, it's by far the most fun group game (3+ people) I've ever played. If you have people over to your place on a regular basis (or will have them over to play Rock Band) it's definately worth having.
If you're not going to have people over, getting it is debatable. It's got a lot of new songs that are fun, but playing on your own isnt quite as satisfing as GH3 imo.

My friend bought Rock Band and we played it maybe for a week. After playing Nirvana and Weezer 50 times it just wasn't as fun as we thought it would be. Singing is boring, the guitar is horrible and drums are just way too hard. If you can beat GH on expert, Rock Band will seem like cake even on the hardest difficulty. Also having to store all that cheap plastic in your living room sucks.

I actually like the signing (when my friends are playing the other parts. On my own it would suck.) It's really not like playing the guitar or drums though. For most people, you can either sing or you can't. If you can, the only real challenge is memorizing the songs (which I did by downloading them.) If you can't sing, well you may be screwed.
I think the guitar difficulty is comparable to GH3, maybe a little easier. And drums are definately hard, but GH was hard at first too, so I'd say that's mre like something you just have to practice to get good at.

ok. so while checking the prices of guitars online. i see that Guitar Hero IV (AKA: World Tour) is coming out in october. and has a drum kit with 3 toms, a foot pedal and 2 symbols. and i'm SURE it will be compatible with the guitar i already have. so i decided to buy a guitar for my GH3 for now. and probly get GH4 around <Holiday Name Here>

I would still recommend Rock Band in the strongest of terms. Then again, I already own every GH game, so I'm a bit of a rhythm game fanboy.

connecting to one wiimote? also, the GH3 guitar isn't built into the wiimote, it connects via th place to plug in the nunchuck. so it's note really built in.

What are you talking about? It requires an entire Wiimote to run the GH3 Guitar...you need to plug it into the Wiimote's nunchuck port. Of course it's not built directly IN the Wiimote, that would just be dumb and...yeah why are you even posting?

The phrasing of being "built in" is misleading, especially for someone who doesn't own any such controllers and is considering purchasing them sight-unseen.
