Pretty much my thoughts as well. PC Gaming is getting thrown by the wayside by Microsoft, they want everything to be on Xbox or Tablets.
Good to hear that Office 2013 at least works well, but I see no reason to upgrade from my current version for the time being.

The supposed reason they're making all their products simpler and white is because of goddamn tablets. Apparently no one is able to click a button that isn't 50 pixels wide and all one color, and also has text in calibri
But why they would change their logo around it, or for that matter apply it to their entire goddamned operating system is beyond me.
